It is such a wonderful occasion to do a Baptism (Christening) for a baby, child, young person or adult. There is no age limit and we can tailor the service, with you choosing the Bible story and hymns to make the occasion extra special.

Baptism marks the start of a journey of faith, which involves turning away from all that is evil, turning towards Christ and becoming a member of the local and worldwide Christian family. To mark this celebration each candidate gets a book to keep and a leaf which is added to the Baptismal tree. (photo here of tree)

Before COVID Skye was keen to keep all baptisms in our main all age services but we have since changed our worship pattern and to make it easier for you we have now opened up the possibility of having a Baptism on Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, knowing that this might be easier for family and friends to join the celebrations.

Do contact Skye if you are thinking of getting Baptised or would like your child to be Christened. Here is a form for you to fill out, but please don’t worry if you don’t know all the details yet.

Once we have met and a date has been confirmed, we will arrange a time to go through the Baptism service and look at the symbols together (water, oil and light) and to give time for you (and possibly the godparents) to look at the service and the promises you will be making.

We look forward to meeting you and your family.

Along with Baptism, we also offer a Thanksgiving Service, which is a simple service of thanksgiving for the birth of a child and may suit you if you want to leave the choice of the Baptism for the child to decide for themselves when they are older. Skye is more than happy to talk to you about a Thanksgiving Service or Baptism if you are unsure.
