Getting Involved

Serving at St Nicholas Church – Vacancies, Activities and Job Opportunities

There are moments in our lives when we need to cut back on what we do and let go of jobs and roles. Beginnings and endings go hand-in-hand often. There are times, as well, when we get the nudge to start something new and it isn’t always easy to know who to ask or what there is to do in church. Many of us feel that serving or helping is part of our worship to God. Or it helps us feel that we belong and allows us to get to know others  better. There are many ways to help on Sundays, midweek or with outside events and projects. Below is a list of some of the ways you can get involved:

      • Join the flower arrangers’ team
      • Become a bell ringer
      • Help to clean and dust an area of the church
      • Join the team to help with live-streaming
      • Join the sound desk team
      • Train to be a server for holy communion (must be confirmed)
      • Train to serve the chalice (must be confirmed)
      • Help with running the youth group (DBS required)
      • Help run Energy Sunday school (DBS required)
      • Join a home group
      • Join one of the choirs: junior, youth or adult
      • Join the worship band (first Sunday of the month)
      • Pastoral care training
      • Read the bible in services (training given)
      • Lead us in intercessions (training given)
      • Help with our fun days
      • Join the Marston eco team – giving garage or Sesi refill
